June Lawson, 80, of Gainesville, passed away July 8, 2021 in Denton.

June was born April 26, 1941 in Montague to Frank David and Effie Mae (Ashford) Rose. She married Wayne Lawson on July 14, 1969 in Dallas. She worked for many years as a secretary at the Gainesville State School and Hillcrest Church of Christ. Mrs. Lawson was very musically talented, having played the piano, guitar, and sang in a traveling band for many years with her husband. She loved watching baseball and football, cheering especially for her Texas Longhorns. Mrs. Lawson cared particularly for her Sheltie dogs.

Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by: parents, Frank and Effie Mae Rose; husband, A. Wayne Lawson; son, Robert Lawson; daughter, Kathy Smith; daughter, Karen Frankson; and many siblings.

Survivors include: grandchildren: Alan Thomas of Rhome, Robert Lawson (wife, Crystal) of Lawton, OK, and Heather Lucy of New Columbia, PA; brother, Joe Rose of Hobbs, NM; son-in-law, Jimmy Smith of Rhome; niece, Rachel Marmon of Krum; and many other nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
