William Columbus "Billy Lum" Montgomery age 81 of Springfield Rd., Bardstown, died at 11:39 pm Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Robley Rex V.A. Medical Center in Louisville.

Born September 18, 1939 in Springfield, he was preceded in death by his parents, John Columbus and Margaret Virginia Reed Montgomery and a brother, David "Topper" Montgomery.

He was a 1958 graduate of St. Joe Prep in Bardstown, served in the U.S. Army as a tank crewman in Europe for three years, was the owner of Montgomery Feed & Farm in Springfield for 25 years, was a over the road truck driver for Triple S Trucking Co. in Springfield for 10 years and was a farmer.

He is survived by 3 sons, John (Laura) Montgomery of Bardstown, David Montgomery of Louisville and Reed Montgomery of San Antonio, Texas, a daughter, Anne Margaret (Dan) Taylor of Springfield, 4 sisters, Jean Boone of Raywick, Sr. Joyce Montgomery, O.P. of Bardstown, Nancy Stanton of Bardstown and Betsy Socha of Farmington Hills, Michigan, 5 grandchildren, Paige and Grant Montgomery, Kate and Hagan Taylor and Katie Fields Gaffney, 2 great grandchildren, Easton and Amelia Gaffney.

Funeral mass will be conducted at 10:00 am Monday, July 12, 2021 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Edmund Ditton, O.P. officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Fred and Grant Montgomery, Mark Boone, John Stanton, Brian Burba, Jack Paslick, Mike Jameson and Hagan Taylor.

A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm Sunday at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home where friends may call from 4:00 till 8:00 pm Sunday and again from 7:00 am till 9:15 am Monday morning.
