Father, Husband Of Woman Die Within 24-Hour Period
The father and husband of an area woman died within 24 hours of one another at Boonsboro and in nearby Hagerstown.
Henry Clay Reel, 90, resident of Bayard, W. Va., died yesterday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. (Nora) Reel, May, Boonsbro. Mrs. May is the widow of Alfred Martin May, 56, who died Monday morning in Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Mr. Reel suffered a stroke about two weeks ago and had been an invalid for two years. His wife, Mrs. Ada Catherine Reel died in 1949. He is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Burg, McWhorter, W. Va.; a son, Charles Reel, Parkersburg, W. Va.; and a brother, Jesse Reel, Petersburg, W. Va.
The body is at the Sharpless Funeral Horne, Blaine, W. Va.
Mr. May, a farmer, had been ill for about a week. A native of Strinestown, Pa., he was a son of the late Jesse and Katie (Weirick) May. He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Surviving, besides his wife, are three children: Ernest and Mary of Bridgeport, Pa.; Stanley, of near Hagerstown; two step-children; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Fogle, York Haven, Pa.; Mrs. Oscar Brenneman, York Haven. Pa.
Two brothers, Roy and William May of York, Pa.; and six grandchildren.
A brief service for Mr. May will be held at his home at 9 a. m. Friday.
Final rites for both Mr. Reel and Mr. May will be held at 2:30 p. m. Friday at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Bayard with interment in Bayard Cemetery.
Rev. Harry Swartz, pastor of the church will be assisted by Rev. Curvin Thompson.
