Joseph Raymond Sheppard, Jr. passed away October 4, 2011, after courageously battling a number of illnesses for years. He was 72 years old. Raymond was married 45 happy years to his wife, Julie. They had two children: a daughter who survives him, and son Joe, who surely greeted him in Heaven when he passed. He was "Papa" to three grandchildren who brought him immeasurable joy. Raymond loved and lived his life for his family. He greatly enjoyed several pets who bonded closely with him. Raymond was born and grew up in Savannah. He graduated from Savannah High School and attended Savannah Technical School. Raymond served in the U.S. Army Artillery and was honorably discharged in 1962. In 2001 he retired from Georgia Pacific.
