Edna Joyce Johnson (nee Lawson), 47, of Elyria, died Wednesday Feb. 23, 2005, in the Emergancy Room of Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain, following a short illness. A lifelong resident of Elyria, she was a graduate of Elyria West High School and attended Southern Arkansas University. She was employed as a cashier at Target departemtn store in Elyria and by Fashion Bug clothing stores in Lorain and Avon. She was a member of Unity Baptist Chruch in Elyria, where she served on the Usher Board and was a past Junior Choir member. Survivors include her husband, James Johnson; daughters Rose Mary McGee of Lorain, Patricia Lindsey of Morth Carolina and Cheryl Donaldson and Hope Johnson, both of Elyria; sons James A. Johnson of Avon and Keith L. Johnson of Lorain; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters Vera Lawson and Vertis Holt, both of Elyria; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Odessa Lawson; a brother, Troy Lawson; and sisters, Ruby and Mettie Lawson. Friends may call 7 to 9 pm Sunday at Unity Baptist Church, 326 Fuller Rd, where services will be noon Monday. The Rev. Willie Gardner, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Arrangements are being handled by Carter Funeral Home, Elyria.
