At 19 years old she met, fell in love with, and married Billy Horton who lovingly called her 'Reverend' until he passed away April 28, 2020. They were together for 68 years and had 3 daughters.
She knew how to tend a garden, reaping and canning fruits and vegetables, and she was skilled at teaching her daughters how to cook and sew and of course, to keep a clean home. Her recipes for Banana Pudding and chocolate pie were the favorite of family and friends. However, the best lesson she passed on was a love; for God and for each other.
Even with her memory fading, she shared God's word and sang hymns remembering the words without coaching. This touched the hearts of those around her. Janet leaves a testimony and memories that will influence us throughout the rest of our lives.
She is survived by her daughters: Brenda Nowinski, Sandra Woerner, and Patricia
Horton. Grandchildren: Heather Fountain, Jessica Bush, Angela Bush, Jonathan Bush, April Farnkopf, Gregory Woerner, Allie Donze, and Sarah Cothern. As well as, great grandchildren: Madison, Isaiah, Kamden, and Charles.
A committal service for Billy and Janet was held Friday, July 30, 2021, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
Arrangements were entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home of Lady Lake, Florida.
