Mrs. Ruth Tuttle Gentry, 100, passed away peacefully Friday July 2, 2021, at Priddy Manor. She was born April 5, 1921, to the late Samuel A. and Edna Chadwick Tuttle in Forsyth County. Ruth grew up in Rural Hall and graduated from Rural Hall High School in 1938. She loved to bake, read, and spend time with her family. Music was a big part of her life. A favorite joy was playing the piano. She was a pianist for Rural Hall Methodist Church for many years, now Kingswood United Methodist Church, where she was a lifelong faithful member. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband; Robert Norman Gentry, a daughter; Betty Gentry Howard; son-in-law, Ron Howard; four brothers; and one sister. She is survived by a son; Wade Gentry (Sharon) of King, NC; six grandchildren, Chris Howard (Ashley) of Greer, SC, Todd Howard (Dana) of Clemson, SC, Chad Howard (Kaziah) of Columbia, SC, Scott Gentry (Marti) of Raleigh, NC, Michael Gentry (Katie) of Charlotte, NC, and Rebecca Roper (Daniel) of Greenville, SC; nine great-grandchildren, Lexi, Stone, Maya, Lydia, Sam, Fowler, Jacob, Eva, and Will; one sister-in-law, Becky Tuttle and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to the care givers at Priddy Manor for their love and care given to Ruth these past few years. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall, NC with Pastor Bruce Updyke officiating. Due to current health concerns and out of caution the family would ask that social distancing and the wearing of masks be practiced during the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kingswood United Methodist Church, PO Box 399, Rural Hall, NC, 27045 or charity of your choice.
