Ms. Stephens was a humble Christian woman dedicated to her faith in God and her family. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.

Betty married Jimmie Stephens from high school and was a loving supporting wife until his passing in 2015. Betty was the love of Jimmie's life and he was hers. They made their home in Putnam county where they raised their six children. Betty was a dedicated mother first and foremost and treasured her life with her children.

During her final months of life, she was under the care of Homestead Hospice. Betty passed peacefully at her home after years of battling Parkinson's Disease, attended by her loving family.

"Her children rise up and call her blessed" . -Proverbs 31:28a.

Ms. Stephens was preceded in death by her husband, Depear "Jimmie" Stephens, Jr.; parents, James Barton and Bessie Taylor Barton; brother, Joseph Barton; and great-grandchild, Sidney Compagines.

She is survived by her children, Peggy Hampton (Sam), of Gray, Brenda Bedsole (Jim), of Barnesville, Deborah Stephens, of Gray, Phillip Stephens, of Macon, Donna Stephens, of Griffin, and Matt Stephens (LaJeune), of Barnesville; grandchildren, Tina Pruitt (Jeff), of Gray, Earl Shaw, of Haddock, Ashley Skinner (Tyler), of Milledgeville, Christy Compagines, of Macon, Trent Purvis, of Gray, Keri Fowler, of Macon, Pamela Roberts, of Decatur, Alabama and Matthew Stephens, Jr. (Brandy), of Flint, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan, Ava, Natalie, Weston, Titus, and Georgia Mae; and siblings, James Clyde Barton (Margarett) and Johnny Barton (Barbara).
