Betty Ann Hayes, age 87 of the Thompson Valley community in Tazewell, VA formerly of Warriormine, WV passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 7, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born November 8, 1933 in Yukon, WV, she was a daughter of the late Joel and Pearl Honaker Ray. She had a heart of gold and was always good to everyone. She really loved holidays and cooking for her family which she loved dearly. She enjoyed gardening and talking to her sons each night on the phone. Betty also loved her dog, Daisy which she had 11 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Richard Hayes; brothers, Lawrence, Arnold, Jimmy, Chester, Estel, and Billy Ray; sisters, Florence Richardson, Zola Boyd, Margaret Boyd, Ruth Pack, and Peggy Deel; granddaughter, Karrie Hicks and daughter in law, Debbie Hayes. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janette Sage and husband, Billie; sons, Ricky Hayes and wife, Vickie, Michael Hayes and wife, Sue, and Ronald Hayes; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11 until 12 PM Saturday July 10, 2021 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon with Pastor Barry Reese officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
