NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. Ann Bowen Broadus, of New York City, N.Y., formerly of
Bramwell, died Sunday, July 18, 1999.
Born in Bramwell, in November 12, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hopkinson Bowen. She was a graduate of Sweet Briar College (Va.) and Columbia University, where she received her masters degree in social work. She was active in many charities in New York City, among them, The Third Street Music School Settlement of which she was an honorary director. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Carlisle Broadus.
She is survived by two daughters, Anne Elizabeth Holding of Lafayette, Calif, and
Margaret Carlisle Saling of New York City; four grandchildren, Amanda Carlisle Holding, Katherine Sinclair Holding, Joseph Carlisle Saling and John Pritchard Saling.
A memorial services was conducted Wednesday at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, New York City.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park
Cemetery, Bluewell with Rev. Jeff Chadwick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to The Society of the Third Music School
Settlement, 235 East 11th Street, New York, NY 10003.
Mercer Funeral Home of Bluefield,, is in charge of arrangements.
