He was a graduate of Jackson P. Burley High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Virginia State University.
He retired after many years of service in retail management in the Supermarket industry at Safeway, Food Lion, Farm Fresh and also in management at the Roses Department Store Company.
His favorite pastimes were cooking, practicing at the shooting range, and gazing at all the muscle and antique cars. Most of all he loved spending time and caring for his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Patricia Coles of Albemarle County, VA; two sons, Justin James Coles of Albemarle County, and Matthew Goodall Coles of Fluvanna County, VA; a sister, Teresa Coles Jackson of Charlottesville, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life was held at Oakwood Cemetery, Charlottesville, VA. J F Bell Funeral Home, Charlottesville, VA.
