Larry Charles Freeman was born September 4, 1954, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, to Irene Elizabeth Freeman. He has been a lifelong resident of Atlantic City and was educated in the Atlantic City Public School System. He departed this earthly life peacefully at home on Monday, May 17, 2021. Larry was a member of Union Baptist Temple in Atlantic City, New Jersey and proudly served in the Food Pantry Ministry.
At a very early age, Larry obtained his first job working at the local A&P grocery store as a bagger. He was a dedicated worker and was very proud to be able to help support his family. In 1972, while in high school, he entered into a pilot program where selected students were able to go to school half day and work half day in order to gain work experience. He excelled in this program and began a successful career in retail. After graduating from Atlantic City High School in 1973, he found his niche selling footwear, a profession that spanned over 50 years. His employment history includes working at: Alexander Shoe Store, Andrew Geller Shoes, Boscov's, NAFEC and the Atlantic City Convention Center.
Larry was personable, fashionable and a self-proclaimed comedian. He loved to laugh and to make everyone around him laugh. He would give everyone he met a nickname and was notorious for making comments out loud that he probably should not have made. Making people laugh and smile gave him so much joy.
In 1995, Larry married the love of his life and soulmate, Brenda Amado Marable. They recently reached the milestone of 25 years of marriage. Larry and Brenda loved being socially active. Together they supported many local community and charitable events and loved to travel. They attended many conventions of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa Incorporated, in which Larry was a member of the Anthropos. Larry and Brenda traveled nationally and internationally and were members of the Golden Circle Club of Atlantic City.
Larry enjoyed being around his family and friends. He was the life of the party. You could find him at the beach nearly everyday during the summer and many people looked forward to his Friday beach parties. Feeding and helping people made Larry happy. He was an avid Eagles fan and his character and presence will be missed, but the memories will live on forever.
He was predeceased by: his mother, Irene; wife, Brenda; mother-in-law, Molly Amado; and father-in-law, Wallace Amado, Sr.

A visitation will be from 10AM to 11AM Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Union Baptist Temple, Adriatic and Pennsylvania Avenues, Atlantic City. Homegoing Celebration will be private due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
