David Andrew Rosenthal, 58, of Benld, IL died on Monday, April 1, 2019 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.

He was born on August 31, 1960 in Litchfield, IL to John Otto Rosenthal and Judith Marie May.

He attended Mt. Olive Grade School and graduated from Mt. Olive High School with the Class of 1978. He attended Lincoln Land Community College, Springfield, Illinois graduating with an Associate Degree in Computer Science.

He was a member of The Church of the Ascension, now St. John Paul II. He served as an altar boy. He was baptized at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Alton, IL.

Mr. Rosenthal was a Plasterer, Union Steward and also worked at Jubelts Bakery.

He enjoyed cooking, exercising, archery, computers, led an active social life, was an enthusiastic gun collector, active in High School football, a member of the grade and high school band, and a ward 2 paper boy. He especially loved his family.

David was survived by 1 son, Joshua (Elizabeth) Rosenthal of Decatur, IL; 1 daughter, Jennifer (Shane) Kessinger of Worden, IL; his mother, Judy Rosenthal, Mt. Olive, IL; 3 sisters, Teresa (Ken) Swenson of Mount Olive, IL, Sally Ann (James) Mills of Greenville, SC, and Allison Werner of Staunton, IL; 1 brother, John Jeffery (Carol) Rosenthal of New Palastine, IN; and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Otto Rosenthal; 1 son John David Rosenthal; and 1 brother Charles Allen Rosenthal.

Visitation was held Thursday, April 4, 2019, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Becker & Son Funeral Home, Mt. Olive. Funeral Service was held Friday, April 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Becker & Son Funeral Home, Mt. Olive, IL.

Music at the service included "Go Rest High Up on the Mountain", "Amazing Grace", and " Wings of a Dove". Pallbearers were James Michael Mills, Galen Parnell, Matthew Schwab, Stephanie Schwab Parnell, Bonnie Eakins, William Sloane, Terry Robertson

Burial took place Friday at New Douglas Cemetery, 808 North Main, New Douglas, Illinois with Father Thomas Hagstrom.

Lunch for family and friends was served in St. John Paul II Hall served by the Altar and Rosary Society.

Becker & Son Funeral Home, Mt. Olive served the family.
