Robert "Bob" Posey was born at home in Watonga Oklahoma on December 25, 1944 to parents Clifford M. and Clarcy Ann Posey and passed away on July 6, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of four children, (sisters Loretta Faye, Velda and Joan) and spent a great deal of time with his oldest sister Loretta. Bob's earliest memory was of being pulled along on a sack between the rows of cotton while the family picked the blooms to fill the bags. Bob learned many skills from his father, and his dad was so proud that Bob knew the correct way to roof a house by the age of five. When Bob was nine, his family moved from Watonga to Checotah Ok for farming. Here he enjoyed working with the animals and the garden but he did not enjoy the backbreaking work of farming. Bob loved the outdoors and as a child would spend many free hours out in the woods and would often borrow the neighbor's 22-shotgun for hunting small game. He would spend time with his maternal grandfather on fishing trips and was close with many of his aunts, uncles and cousins as so many of them were around his age. When he was in the middle of his junior year of high school the family sold the farm and moved to Bethany so that he would have more future opportunities than farming. Bob did not like leaving his friends and moving to the city but once he started making friends the transition became easier. Bob worked carpentry jobs with his father and enjoyed cruising around the town with friends in the fast cars. Many of the church youth groups would hold events for the young people and it was at one of these events where he saw the woman destined to be his wife. The event was a roller-skating party. He saw this gorgeous girl with dark curly hair, pale cream skin, beautiful blue eyes, a smile that could melt your heart and a joyful laugh. He had a silver-tongue and after chatting a bit he asked if he could have her number to call her up later on. She shyly said yes. With no paper available (and to impress her) he pulled out a five-dollar bill (equivalent to $45 today) and wrote the phone number on it. Bob married Judy on April 11th, 1964 in a church service surrounded by friends and family. The reception was held at his parents' house in Bethany. As a part of the older-custom wedding tradition, Bob had Judy sit in a wheel-barrow as he pushed her around the block and all the family hooted and hollered to celebrate the joyous occasion. Bob and Judy spent the first years of marriage building a bond between themselves before deciding to have children. Bob often would tell his children to thank their mother as she talked him into having them. Bob and Judy welcomed their first born, a son, in June of 1969. He was extremely proud of this new "little man" and did everything he could to make sure his son would have the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of a Godly life and to participate in all the things that Bob had missed out on. In September of 1972, Bob and Judy welcomed their second child, a daughter and the apple of his eye. Bob and Judy had prayed for their children and their children's future spouses' years before any of them were born and they trusted in faith that God would keep and care for each of them. Bob worked hard to provide for his family and learned the trade of Electro-plating in order to support them. With this skill he was eventually able to set-up his own business in Bethany and provide the means of support for a growing family. Bob was very active in the Church and was a leader in the Assemblies of God Royal Rangers program. This program combined two passions for Bob, teaching young people about God and his mercy as well as teaching them about nature and the outdoors. Bob loved going to the camp-outs and in the big international events he would dress in the old frontier outfits as the character of "Cowboy Bob" and perform in skits to entertain. The Royal Rangers program provided untold opportunities for Bob. He made many friends, some who became like brothers to him. Bob was always amazed by the grace that God showed him. He would often say, "God is so good to me. Here I am, this small-town country boy, and God has showed me the world just for sharing his word." As Bob's children grew older he was always interested in the things they would learn and their views on everything. He was very proud of his children and would tell them that they were capable of accomplishing anything they could set their hand to. Bob worked to make sure that his son learned his trade just as he had learned a trade from his father. He knew his son was capable of so much more but wanted him to have a back-up skill to rely on just as he had had with the carpentry. Bob loved going to work even after he had "retired" just so he could spend each day with his son, his "little man". When his son and daughter-in-law announced the arrival of twin grandchildren he was shocked and overjoyed to find out that he was going to be a grandfather to a little boy and little girl. And with this information, Bob and Judy began praying for these new little lives as well as their future spouses. For the next 25 years every single time Bob would see his daughter-in-law he would say "Thank you for that" and point to his grandchildren with his infectious grin on his face. Bob loved his family, he was happy in their happiness and pained in their pains. He dedicated his life to making sure his children knew God's love, and was a living example of how to be a kind and loving father. Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years Judy Posey, his son Robert Michael Posey and wife Rachel, his daughter DeLanna Kristine Burchett and husband Ron, his grandchildren Justin Michael Posey and Kaitlyn Elisabeth Posey, and his favorite niece Linda Kaye Due as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob returned to the Lord on July 6th 2021 at the young age of 76. We are sorrowed by his passing although we know in our hearts that his joyous return was heralded by hoots and hollers from all the family that has gone before. He is in the kingdom of heaven and God has greeted him "Rest now my good and faithful child, you are home. "https://gofund.me/1d54c590
