A man to whom our Lord gave many talents passed away July 5, 2021, at home in Pond Creek, with Donna, his wife of 63 years, nearby.
Services celebrating the life of Lawrence Dean Schultz will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 10 at the Pond Creek Cemetery Memorial Pavilion. Casual dress is requested.
Dean was born to Ed and Lena (Weidman) Schultz on September 30, 1934, in Enid, Oklahoma. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Hunter High School in 1953.
He participated in ROTC at the Oklahoma A&M Institute of Technology in Stillwater and attained his Diesel Engines Certification in 1955. Shortly after, he joined the United States Army, serving as a diesel locomotive inspector in Germany.
On July 15, 1958, Dean married Donna Kirkpatrick in Pond Creek. He operated Dean's 66 Station in Pond Creek and began establishing his family farm, where he raised cattle, wheat, and hay.
Dean is survived by his children, Bill (Stacie) Schultz of Pond Creek, Gary (Jamelyn) Schultz of Pond Creek, and Lisa (John) Murray of Edmond. Also surviving are grandchildren Whitney Schultz, Clinton Schultz, Carly ( Zac) Johnson, Casey (Hannah) Murray, Kelsea Schultz, Kori Schultz, Kobe Schultz, and Kaden Schultz, as well as one great-granddaughter, Lily Murray.
Surviving siblings are Maxine Shaffer, Maryl Dumbauld, twin sister Jean West, Carol Schultz, Jerry and Helen Schultz, sister-in-law Ruth (Schultz) Jackson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by sisters Edna Felix and Doris Kent, brothers Kenneth Schultz and Edward Schultz.
Dean was an active member of the First Christian Church of Pond Creek, where he served in many capacities and enjoyed singing in the choir. His fondest memories of Christian service were the 10 mission trips he and Donna made to Central America and Mexico, where their talents were in demand.
