Matt Allred was born in 1952 to William and Doris Allred and was raised in southern Oregon and northern California. He moved with his mom and siblings to Washington state in 1967. He resided in Pierce county until 2008, when he moved to Mason County. Matt was an accomplished carpenter. He had over 25+ years in the Carpenter Union with over 45,000+ hours documented working on commercial jobs. An expert in finish work, Matt also worked 13 years as factory repairman doing finish work on all phases of mobile/modular homes. He was a working foreman on multiple Bon Marche and Macy stores throughout the United States. Although Matt had no children of his own, his niece and nephew recall that when he hosted Thanksgiving dinners, all food hampers would be checked to ensure that no leftovers were being taken home. His condition for hosting was that he provided the turkey but all left-over food from guests was to be left behind after the dinner! His home was a perfect bachelor pad with foos ball table, dart board, and pool table for family and friends to enjoy. He also had massive music and movie collections for when he entertained. Matt died on his six acre property, where he enjoyed the wildlife and tranquility. It was the weekend of the extreme heat wave about June 25th, 2021. He is survived by his sister, Margie and her family, and his brother, Wayne (Olga). His cremains were placed at IOOF Cemetery, Ellensburg, next to his great-great grandparents and mother.
MEMORIES:
His brother Wayne recalls that Matt was extremely competitive and excelled playing all sorts of games - foosball, poker, and strategy board games. Niece Tara recalled playing a marble strategy game with him during one of his parties. The more he drank, the more games he would win, which flabbergasted her. Matt loved winning!

MATT WAS A MAN WHO NEVER FOUND A TOOL HE DIDN'T WANT TO OWN. HE HAD THE CORRECT TOOL FOR ANY PROJECT.

Whether partying in San Cabo Lucas in Mexico or at his home, Matt was an amiable host. He loved being around people. He often entertained friends when he had his home in Tacoma. He didn't socialize as much when he moved to his remote six-acre property in Mason County but welcomed all visitors. He always prided himself in taking care of his land.

MATT IS ALSO REMEMBERED FOR LOVING CATS, FOR BEING COMPASSIONATE, AND FOR REMAINING CLOSE TO HIS SISTER AND BROTHER. He always had a cat named Spot!

IN HIS RETIREMENT, MATT TREATED HIMSELF TO A 65 INCH TV. Cigarette in hand, he could be found watching football games or the old westerns on cable.

His siblings recall that he would blurt out "UMGAWA!" at unexpected times; eliciting a smile or laugh.

HIS UNCLE DAVE REMEMBERS MATT: Always a smile and greeting; always happy around friends and family.
