{ Obituary - Published by GoSanAngelo, San Angelo, TX from Jul. 5 to Jul. 7, 2021 }

Our beloved Nana, Wanda Jean "Jeanie" Brown Lawson, passed away peacefully July 1st, 2021 in the Schleicher County Hospital at 6:10 pm.

Jeanie was born in Electra Texas on August 31,1938 to Edward Albert Brown and Lucy Lucylle Brown. —-She attended school in Electra, Texas.

She later met and married husband, Ben Lawson, together they had two daughters, Kammi Lawson and Janna Lawson.

Their family lived abroad for several years in Norway, Saudi Arabia, & Venezuela. In the mid 70's they made their final move to Sonora, TX. They settled into a home where she would help to raise 3 generations. Angela, Cara, and Ed have many fond memories of countless nights and holidays spent at their Nana's house.

She worked at the First National Bank of Sonora for over 30 years where she made life long friends. She was voted citizen of the year. She never met a face she did not call friend and many she considered family.

The First Baptist Church of Sonora was her second home where her passion for Jesus Christ was embraced and her love for children could be continued long after hers were gone. It can be said her faith was tested throughout her life and anyone who knows her can attest that it never wavered.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ben; and her daughers, Kammi Lawson and Janna Lawson.

She is survived by three grandchildren; Angela Mayfield Humphreys of San Simon, Arizona; Cara Mayfield of Sonora, Texas; Ed Mayfield and his wife, Shalayne of Sonora, Texas; as well as 6 great-grandchildren; Skyler Norris and his wife Kassidy; Saidee Lynn and Sydnee Lee Humphreys; Madison Mayfield and Logan Mayfield; and Presley Anne Mayfield.

The Family wishes to thank, from the very bottoms of their hearts, the love the community of Sonora had for their Nana. Also, her friends who diligently checked on and helped her through troubled times and the many Doctors, Nurses and staff who attended to her needs in the last few months of her life.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Sonora.
