Son of B. H. (b. Halafax, VA) and Rhody Callie (b. Decalb, TN), he married Lily Niece, was widowed, a farmer, lived 3 miles south of Molalla, OR, died there of a cerebral hemorrhage and arteriosclerosis, per death certificate 520, whose informant was J. R. Akins of Molalla Rt. 1. Buried Dec 31 1936.

Per Missouri Marriages, on Dec 30 1888 in Dade Co, MO, James S. Akins of Cane Hill, MO, married Lillie Niece of Cane Hill, MO.

Salem Capital Journal, Friday Jan 1 1937:
Aurora -- James Samuel Akins, 74, a resident of Teasel Creek district near Molalla for 6 years, died Tuesday evening at his home on the old Carey Herman place in that section. He was a native of Missouri, born January 20k 1862, and moved to Clackamas country in 1930 from California.

His wife, Lily, died last July. A son, J. R. Akins, at home, survives.

Services were Thursday afternoon at Everhart Chapel, Molalla, with Rev. James T. Love officiating. Interment was in Adams Cemetery, Molalla.
