Sarah was born on October 6, 1932, in Roanoke, AL and was a long-time resident of Amelia Island, FL. Raised in Roanoke, Sarah graduated as Valedictorian from Handley High School, Class of 1950. After high school, she attended Hollins University in Roanoke, VA for two years and then graduated from the University of Alabama in 1954.
Sarah was a member of the Episcopal Church and was a parishioner of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Lafayette. An avid needlepointer, she volunteered her talents by making kneelers for St. Peters Episcopal Church in Amelia Island, where she was a member of the Altar Guild. Sarah was a homemaker for most of her life. A dedicated baker, she loved making delicious southern sweets for family and friends. Sarah most enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She leaves a legacy of love and will be deeply missed.
Sarah is survived by her three children, sons Robert Finch and his wife Jean, of Lafayette, LA and Kenneth Finch and his wife Theresa, of Ankeny, IA and daughter Elizabeth Barickman and her husband Mark, of Basking Ridge, NJ; her brother, Bobby Durham and his wife Patsy, of Roanoke, AL and seven grandchildren, Robert Finch, Tamara Finch, Steven Finch, David Finch, Christopher Finch, Mattison Barickman, and Anna Barickman.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Steve Hood Finch and her parents, Robert Luther Durham and Ruth Braswell Durham.
