Joshua Roy "Josh" Taylor, 43, of Fort Gibson, was born September 21, 1977 in Muskogee, OK to Roy and Janiece (Lewis) Taylor and peacefully passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021 with his loving family by his side.
He spent his grade school years in the Fort Gibson School system, and finished his formal education at Muskogee High School.
Josh was a carpenter by trade, working for his grandpa, Leroy Smith's Cabinet Shop in Fort Gibson for most of his working career. His passions in life were wood working, playing golf, wetting a hook at his favorite fishing spot, stock car racing and watching pro-wrestling.
Josh is lovingly survived by his mother and his step-father, Janiece and Bryan Lewis of the home; brothers, Michael Taylor and wife Trish of Fort Gibson, OK; Jerry Taylor and wife Melanie of Eufaula, OK; Roger Taylor of North Carolina; Bryan Lewis and wife Kristi of Sand Springs, OK; and Cody Lewis and wife Lashawn of Fort Gibson, OK; grandparents, Leroy and Patsy Smith of Fort Gibson, OK and Larry and Caroll Lewis of Muskogee, OK; aunts and uncles, Chuck Brosz and wife Sheila of Dallas, TX; Marvin Smith and wife Ellie of Fort Gibson, OK; Mark Smith and wife Kelly of Tulsa, OK; Lance Lewis and wife Shawnna of Muskogee, OK; Brad Lewis of Muskogee, OK; James Taylor of Fort Gibson, OK; Jimmy Taylor and wife Barbara of Tulsa, OK; Doug Gilliland and wife Erin of Fort Gibson, OK; nieces and nephews, Shelby, Leah, Sara, Trapper, Fisher, Scout, Carsen, Maggie, Reed, Elizabeth, Orion, Harley, Drayden, Jayde, Xander, Mason, Camron, Serenity and Abby; several cousins, numerous extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Taylor and his grandmother, Lois Cook.
A celebration of Josh's life will be 1:00PM Saturday, July 24, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Fort Gibson with Brother Butch Cook officiating. Michael Taylor, Jerry Taylor, Bryan Lewis, Cody Lewis and Kenny Clemmens will serve as urn bearers.
