Donald Eugene Reid was born March 10, 1951 in Andover KS to Robert and Alice Reid (nee McKain).
Raised in St. Vincent de Paul parish and attending Andover High School, Don participated in the local Boy Scout Troop 533 and helped his father with carpentry work around town. He graduated from Wichita State University with a degree in chemistry. He first worked at Wesley Hospital as a laboratory medical technician in Wichita KS.
Don met his future wife Anita Gallus in Wichita participating in a local Catholic singles' group. He moved his family to the Kansas City area in 1993 to work at Kansas University Medical Center as a med-tech. Later, he retired to focus on his health and his family in 2013, volunteering with his church (St. Therese Parish) and Habitat for Humanity.
Don passed comfortably on July 4th, 2021 with his children attending him.
Don continued to love woodworking his entire life; improving his home with practical projects, furniture, and trimwork. Don passed along his woodworking skills; his daughter Angela "upcycles" materials into decorations for her home. Daughter Anastasia ("Stasi") credits him with her "handy" and practical skillset. Don's son Tim joined Boy Scouts, with Don's mentorship earned the Eagle Scout award, and continues to mentor youth in Boy Scouts today.

Don was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, his brother Jack, and his wife Anita. He is survived by his brothers: James, Robert(Teresa), and John. He also has surviving sisters Roberta and Betty. Don's efforts in life are inherited by his children: Timothy Reid (Parkville), Anastasia Reid (Kansas City)(Adam Gottlieb), and Angela Wilkinson (Kansas City)(Trevor Wilkinson) …and Fredrick Wilkinson (Grand-pig).

Don leaves behind a legacy of thoughtful kindness and wry humor that improved the lives of his friends and family.
