Scott Laurel Gillam, 45, of Olathe, Kansas passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021 after a long battle with a rare form of cancer. He was surrounded by his wife of nearly 19 years and their three children. The family would like to thank everyone at KU Medical Cancer Center and Olathe Hospice for their kindness and support in the final weeks and days.

Scott was born on July 11, 1975 in Davenport, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Assumption High School and then continued his education at Iowa State University. He was a very proud Cyclone. If the Clones were playing, he was watching. He loved the Kansas City Chiefs and had established a father-son Sunday tradition of wearing their Chiefs jerseys and ordering chicken wings for any big game. Scott was also an accomplished golfer from a young age and spent his final days watching the Masters Golf Tournament, telling his son how much he would have loved to visit Augusta someday. He was also amazing at trivia and random facts!

Scott is survived by his wife Lisa (Hildebrand) and their three children, Ashleigh, 18, Braeden, 15 and Kara, 12. He is also survived by: father Larry Gillam; mother Patty Gillam; sister Ellen (Gillam) Waller; brother-in-law Mike Waller; father-in-law Gary Hildebrand; mother-in-law Connie Hildebrand; brother-in-law Ryan Hildebrand; brother-in-law Lenny Johnson. Scott also leaves behind two cats and a dog Hershey, who he was very proud of selecting from a pet shelter along with the help of his daughter Kara.

A private, invitation only Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 24th at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home. Scott was cremated according to his final wishes and there will be no burial.

Scott's highest priority and concern in his final days was for the future financial security of his children and most immediately, for his daughter Ashleigh who will be graduating from Olathe West High School in May. She will be attending Saint Louis University in the fall and he was so proud of her for all of her academic achievements. Therefore, in lieu of a public visitation or flowers to the service, a GoFundMe has been established to support his children's college expenses:
