Early on he learned the importance of family and this was the foundation for one day having a family of his own. The day he walked into the local bakery and saw the blond haired, green eyed girl behind the counter, he knew she was the one for him. John and Janice married young and kept their love alive for more than 40 years. As the years passed, they welcomed four sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law and three beautiful grandchildren, all of which he cherished.
John spent endless hours sitting on the bleachers supporting all of his sons in their athletic endeavors never missing an event including day after day at wrestling tournaments to cheer for matches that would last a matter of moments. More recently he enjoyed watching a fast-paced game of t-ball or soccer with his next generation of athletes.
He was an avid sports fan and loved to attend Rutgers football games and Yankee games with his sons and loved to get out on the ocean to go deep sea fishing whenever he could.
He was a proud and devoted father who enjoyed all of his sons' accomplishments and spending time with them, supporting their interests.
Large family events are commonplace in the Loomis household and he always welcomed the opportunity to have a spirited conversation about sports, politics or current events. Even after his children grew up and moved out, not a week would go by where he didn't see his children and grandchildren, whether it was to celebrate a special occasion, help with something, or just grab a meal together.
John greatly enjoyed watching his family grow with each addition of his three energetic grandchildren, even embracing his new name, "Papa Janice".
Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Eleanore, he was survived by his wife Janice; his sons Daniel (Elizabeth), Matthew (Jessica), Andrew and John Jr.; his beloved grandchildren, Madelyn, Jack and Camila; his brothers Thomas (Marie) and James; his sisters Kathleen, Peggy (Raj), Mary (Tim), Jeanne and Ella; his treasured mother-in-law, Pat; sister-in-law Debbie; brothers-in-law James (Mary) and Edward (Kim); and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his best friend, Larry, who waited patiently by the door for him every day to welcome him home.
