Mrs. Carol Lou Helton Cook, age 70, of Rowe, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Saturday (July 3, 2021) at Maple Grove Healthcare Center in Lebanon, Virginia. Born August 30, 1950 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Ruby Pauline Arwood Helton. A lifelong resident of the area, she was of the Freewill Baptist faith and enjoyed attending church when her health permitted. She had formerly been employed as a seamstress at Honaker Mills and as a cook at Food City.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Johnny Helton, Jimmy Helton and Billy Helton and sister, Mary Ann Helton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Allen Steven, Gaines Stevens, VA Johnson, Edith Mabe, Donald Lee Cook, Ballard Cook and Elden Cook.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas Cook of the home; two sons, Ronnie Cook and wife, Diane and Tony Cook and wife, Wanda; four grandsons, Walter Cook and wife, Autumn, Hunter Cook and fiancée, Felicia, Scotty Cook and wife, Crystal, James Cook and wife, Audrey; great-grandchildren, Solomon Silas Cook, Ezra Jedidiah Cook and two expected great-grandchildren; siblings, Sue McGlothlin, Darlene Dye and husband, Tim, Charlene Farmer and husband, Donnie, Willard Helton and wife, Patty, Ralph Helton and wife, Sissy and Rick Helton and wife, Jeannie; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, J.C. and Barbara Cook, Ruth Smith and Wanda and Don Mitchell; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Maple Grove Health Care Facility for the wonderful care they provided.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edward Tiller, Rev. Diane Cook, Rev. Willard Helton and Rev. Ricky Helton officiating. Interment will follow in the Baldwin Cemetery on Stinson Ridge, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Cook, James Cook, Walter Cook, Hunter Cook, Devon Tharp and Austin Helton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Solomon Cook, Ezra Cook, Ricky Helton and Willard Helton.
The family will receive friends after 6 PM Wednesday at Honaker Funeral Home where an evening song service will be conducted at 7 PM.
