Delbert E. Cannon, 71, of rural Melrose died Friday, Dec. 21, 1984, in La Crosse Lutheran Hospital.

He was born May 29, 1913, in Albertha, Ark., to Thomas and Roxie (Kerley) Cannon. He married Marilyn Cannon on Sept. 13, 1968. He was a retired locomotive engineer for the Southern Pacific Railroad and made his home in the Melrose area for the past 15 years.

Survivors include his wife, three sons, Michael and Stephan of Melrose, and Delbert Jr. of Hawaii, three daughters, Carrie Cannon and Colleen Haldeman, both of Melrose, and Terri Madison of West Germany, four sisters, Dorothy Cannon and Ruby Whitmire, both of Orange, Calif., Pauline Burrows of Santa Anna, Calif., and Hassel Myers of Lakewood, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and one great-grandchild.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, Dec. 30, 1984, at 2 p.m. in the Melrose United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Webster will officiate. the body is being cremated. Arrangements were made by the Smith Mortuary, Melrose.
