Karen Kay Harrington, 84, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on June 27th, 2021. Karen was born July 20, 1936 in Lincoln, NE. Karen is survived by her significant other, Dwayne G. Lewis, daughters Terri Harrington, Heidi (Rick Hammond), Abbi (Kurt Kleinschmidt), Jenni (Mike Newton), eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to St. Mary's Food Bank of Phoenix, AZ.

Karen K. Rauch Harrington passed away in Phoenix AZ on June 27, 2021 at the age of 84. Karen was born July 20, 1936 in Lincoln NE to Russell and Fern Rauch. Karen grew up in Lincoln, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1954. Karen's talent and athleticism shined when she won Nebraska State Junior Girls Tennis Champion three years running, 1952, 1953 and 1954. Karen attended UNL, was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. She resumed college graduating in 1984 from Metropolitan State University in Denver, CO.

During her college hiatus she and her husband, Tom, lived on a farm/ranch near Bradshaw, NE and raised their four daughters. Karen created a beautiful home for her family becoming a gourmet cook, a gracious entertainer, an expert gardener, a participant in her rural community and supporter of her daughters in all of their activities. She also found time to play competitive racket ball and tennis and occasionally traveled.

Karen moved to Denver and after finishing college was employed by Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, working as a case manager. Karen enjoyed her life in Colorado with her companion Lou Wilcox. In 2011, Karen moved to Phoenix and embraced everything about the southwest. She adapted her gardening skills, continued her love of cooking and especially appreciated Arizona's warm sunshine. In Arizona, Karen renewed a friendship with Dwayne Lewis and with whom she said "I've never been happier in my life." These were the golden years for them both.

Karen is survived by her significant other Dwayne G. Lewis of Phoenix, daughters Terri Harrington of Denver, Heidi (Rick) Hammond of Clarks, NE, Abbi (Kurt) Kleinschmidt of Sutton NE, Jenni (Mike Newton) Harrington of Bradshaw, NE. Karen's grandchildren Tyler (Kelly) Joyce, Jesse Hammond, Meghan (Kyle) Gallway, Erin Hammond, Sarah (David) Maslowsky, Kyle (Bayley) Leif, Casey (Lindsay) Leif, Colton Kleinschmidt, Cameron Kleinschmidt, Jessi Harrington-Newton, Thomas Harrington-Newton. Great-grandchildren: Ryen and Jordyn Joyce, Logan and Kendal Gallway, Dempsey Maslowsky, Kori and Miles Leif, Roman, Archer, Gus and Georgia Leif. Karen is further survived by her brother and sister-in-law Bob and Cathy Rauch of Lincoln and nieces Amy (Tim) Himes, Annie and Emma of Omaha.
