Mrs. Mary J. Bradley, widow of George Bradley, who for many years was prominent in Rockford as an architect, passed away this mourning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank B. McKenney, on N Church Street. Her death was due to ailments due to advanced years, complicated with an attack of the grip.
The deceased was born in Burnham, New Hampshire, and was 75 years of age on February 28. She was married to George Bradley at Haverell, Essex County, Mass,, and came west in 1855 with him. Since that time she has lived in Rockford.
Her husband ran a planning miil at what is now the Weldon shop on S. Main Street, and later was one of the architects in business in Rockford.
For twelves years past Mrs. Bradley had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Frank B. McKenney. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Louise Abel of Rockford, by two sons, Chas. Bradley of Rockford and Ed. Bradley of Minneapolis, and by three daughters, Mrs. McKenney, Mrs. Andrew Sherratt of Rockford and Mrs. W.B. Dow of Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Mrs. Bradley was one of the first members of the Church of the Christian Union, with which she was affiliated until her death. By her demise one of the oldest members of the church, a good Christian woman, is taken away.
