John C. Miller, son of Jacob and Nancy Miller was born in Shelby county at Bowman's Grove April 28, 1868. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Edna Jensen at Creston, Iowa, whom he was visiting on the 19th of February, 1956.
He was united in marriage to Lettie Tague, February 20, 1889. To this union were born four children. His wife and son, Leonard, preceded him in death. He later married Margie McKeig, who also receded him in death.
As a young man, he was baptized in the Bowman Grove Baptist Church. In later years, he was united with the Bethel Baptist church in Harlan.
Surviving him are his three children; Ray of Whittier, California; Mrs Edna Jensen of Creston; Mrs Pearle Welsh of Harlan; and a step-daughter, Mrs Pearl Kilpatrick of Lorimor. Also 14 granchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He was the youngest son and the only survivor of a family of seven brothers.
Funeral services were held at the Bethel Baptist Church and burial was in the Bowman's Grove Cemetery.
