Mrs. Clontz was born March 28, 1924 in Union County, NC to the late Elijah and Carrie Hinson.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bayne James Clontz; her brothers, Robert, Worth, Ernest, Asher, Thomas, and N.B. Hinson; and her sisters, Ersel Hinson Calloway, Janie Hinson Black, Rachel Hinson Thomas, and two infant sisters.
Survivors include her son, Iwan Clontz and wife, Sharon, of Monroe, NC; grandsons, Michael and Matthew Clontz; granddaughter, Elizabeth Gandy and husband, Jon Gandy; and great-grandchildren, twins - Stella and Silas. She is survived, also, by her sister-in-law, Barbara Hinson of Fairview-Indian Trail; and many nieces, nephews, and grands.
Sarah was an active member, for 50 years, of Hopewell Baptist Church and Oakhurst Baptist Church. She retired from Exxon Oil Company after 35 years of service. She also worked 10 years as the Pastor's secretary at First Baptist Church of Charlotte.
If there is a flower garden in Heaven, Sarah will be caring for it. She was an avid gardener - there was never a flower she didn't enjoy.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Legacy Campus of Hopewell Baptist Church, 420 Hopewell Church Road, Monroe, NC 28110. The service will immediately follow at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, officiated by Rev. Lee Pigg and Rev. Brian Austin. Burial will follow at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
