Son of Jacob Cosman and
Father of Leah Cosman, Margaret Cosman and John Veysey Cosman

1860 Maine census for Carroll records George as one year old and born in Maine. Apparently, the census was taken before August 1860. He was probably five or six years old when the family moved to Pemberton Ridge, New Brunswick. George was a fine singer and was called "Sankey" by family members. He also played hymns and old songs on the violin. It is thought that he did not have lessons, but had a natural musical ability.

Brother of Edward Cosman, Nathan J. Cosman, William Wallace Cosman, Franklin Putnam Cosman, Hannah Catherine Cosman, Mary Ellen Cosman, Herman Edgar Cosman, Paul Cosman, James Walter Cosman and John L. Cosman
