d. Aug 1938 Niagara Falls, New York
1860 Maine census for Carroll records George as one year old and born in Maine. Apparently, the census was taken before August 1860. He was probably five or six years old when the family moved to Pemberton Ridge, New Brunswick. George was a fine singer and was called "Sankey" by family members. He also played hymns and old songs on the violin. It is thought that he did not have lessons, but had a natural musical ability.
