Born in Buncombe County November 12, 1927 she was the wife of the late William Joy Smith, and the daughter of the late Clarence Pearson and Sadie (Sparrow) Ledbetter. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and C.P. Ledbetter, and two sisters, Evelyn Gashwiler and Sibyl Scroggs.
Nina was employed for over 30 years for Exxon Corp. as a District Clerk and eventually retired from Suburban Propane.
A very spiritual woman, she loved her family and claimed them all as her heroes. She loved God and praised him everyday.
Nina is survived by her son, Dan Smith (Connie) of Asheville; a grandson whom she loved dearly and was so proud of, Tyler Smith of Southampton, NY; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer special thanks to her special friend, Sheila Siebert, for her love and care of Nina.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Shepherd Memorial Park.
