John Roger "D.D." Dawson, 74, of Gloster, Mississippi, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021.
He was born March 22, 1947 in Amite County, the son of the late John Roger Dawson Sr. and Flora Mae Brantley Dawson. D.D. was a truck driver most of his life and was Baptist.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Cassaundra "Cassie" Irwin; and four sisters, Lemoyne Whittington, Louise Freeman, Lorraine Black, and Angela Burkett.
D.D. is survived by his wife of thirty years Janice Kelly Dawson; daughter Leah Hazlip, son Shane Dawson, sisters, Marion Freeman, Gwen Collier, brother Kevin Dawson and Becky, Sister Sherry Cook, sister Kathy Thomas and Jerry McKey, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Saturday July 3, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, MS. from 11:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Kevin Dixon and Bro. Carl Grice. Graveside services will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jacob Hazlip, Casey Rushing, Heath Thomas, Brad McKey, Tyson Etheridge, Joey Dawson, Dave Randall and Justin Dawson.
