Ginger Sue Hughes Powell, age 83, of Shreveport, Louisiana, died on June 30, 2021 at LSU Oschner Medical Center in Shreveport Louisiana after a brief illness. She was born March 23,1938, and lived in Shreveport, all of her life. She graduated from Byrd High School in 1957, where she made many lifetime friends.

Ginger was a loving mother, wife, and the most kind and giving person. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren with all her heart. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden, photography, and music from the 1950's and 60's. She would sit for hours listening to her collection of records, especially those of Elvis Presley. In her younger days, she enjoyed making requests on the radio to Gene Nobels, a famous DJ in Nashville TN.

Ginger was predeceased by her parents, Mildred C Flinn Hughes and William Joseph Hughes, as well as her husband, Robert Arthur Powell.

Ginger is survived by her four children, daughter Gina Theriac-Manning of Oaktown, IN, daughter Pamela Powell, of Shreveport, daughter Deborah Stone and husband, Michael, of Gambrills,MD, and son, Gregory Powell, of Jacksonville FL. She had seven grandchildren, David, Jeffrey and Constance Manning, Brett, Riley, and Jason Stone, and Devin Powell.

Services will be on Friday, July 2, 2021, at the Forest Park Funeral Home on 1201 Louisiana Avenue in Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be at 9:00 A.M, followed by graveside services at 10:00 A.M. - interment will follow at the Forest Park Cemetery on 3700 St Vincent Avenue in Shreveport.
