Courtney was born September 18, 1991 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of Winton Grady Thornton, Jr. and Ruth Mizzell Thornton. She was working as a hostess at Home Team Barbecue in Charleston at the time of her passing.
She is survived by her step-father, Daniel Lee Hunter of Moncks Corner, SC, sister, Jennifer (Bryan) Mullinax of Saint Stephens, SC, sister, Lindsay Hunter of Moncks Corner, SC, brother, Daniel T.
