Dorothy was born Feb. 28, 1931, to Arley D. and Artie May (Brayton) Barker in Butler County. She attended the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and was a retired secretary. Dorothy enjoyed history and researching family ancestry, shopping and collecting Cardinals
Survivors include her son John Douglas Patterson of Canon City, Colorado; three sisters, Mary Ellen( John) Tibbs of Poplar Bluff, Jean (Charles) Chatman of Winter Haven, Florida, and Sue (Jimmy) Gilbert of Poplar Bluff; four brothers, Arley (Lois) Barker, Eugene (Denise) Barker and Kenneth Barker all of Poplar Bluff and Art (Linda) Barker of Morris, Illinois; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert J. Patterson, a son, Dan Patterson, a sister, Evelyn Burgin and a brother, William Barker.
Visitation will begin at 1 pm Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff, with the funeral service following at 2 pm. Interment will be at Black Creek Cemetery.
