Knoxville - Barbara Lou Berry Baldwin passed away, at home, July 1, 2021. She was born in Knoxville, TN on March 14, 1930 to Flora S. and Elbert W. Berry. Barbara served Jesus Christ in all aspects of her life and wanted to reflect God's love to everyone. She loved her church, First Baptist Knoxville. She was enrolled there at an early age in the cradle roll department and grew up there. Barbara and her husband met at South Knoxville Baptist Church and served there for years. Her service included teaching Sunday School, GA's and VBS, participating on committees and singing in the choir. After her husband's death in 1999, Barbara returned to her home church of FBK. At FBK she sang with the Golden Notes, served in many ways and took oil painting classes.

Barbara grew up in Island Home and had fun on the boulevard roller skating, bicycling and spending time at her grandparents' home. She was a graduate of Young High School, attended Carson Newman College and enjoyed being a thespian at both schools. While her children were young, Barbara was an elementary school substitute teacher in South Knoxville. She later worked at the University of Tennessee College of Business and retired as Director of Finance. During retirement Barbara volunteered at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital as a patient representative and at Knox Area Rescue Ministries. She also shared her time by helping to care for extended family and friends. Barbara loved traveling and with her keen memory could remember details from all her trips.

After fifty years of marriage Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Scott Baldwin. Also preceded by sons, Richard Mark Baldwin and Michael Scott Baldwin (infant), her parents and brother.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Dale Baldwin of Birmingham, Alabama; cousins, Carolyn, Will, and Mary Kathryn Monday; nephew-in-law, Ben Baldwin (Renee') and family; niece-in-law, Rena Gilbert (Paul) and family.

On Saturday, July 3rd, visitation will be held 1:00 pm-2:00pm, followed by a 2:00pm service at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Dr. Brent McDougal will be the officiant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 510 W. Main Street, Knoxville, TN 37902 or a charity of your choice.
