Norma Jean (Roop) Gwinn Welch, 86 of Beckley, WV passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the Bowers Hospice House. She was born January 27, 1935, in Black Hawk, WV to the late Robert Earl Roop and Bertha (Fernatt) Walker.
Norma was a 1969 graduate of R.C.V.T. School of Practical Nursing and retired from Nursing in 1992.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Welch; sisters, Edna Smith, Mary Smith, Joyce Bland, and Freda Pitsenbarger; brothers, Carl Roop, Raymond Roop, and Murvin Roop; stepchildren, Diana (Welch) Marisen and Raymond Welch.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Kelly Eugene Gwinn Jr. and wife Janice of Lanark, WV, Dara Delight Leichter and husband Lee of Fort Myers, FL, Earl O'Dell Sharp and companion Kim Roberts of Lanark, WV, Linda Renea Smith, and husband Dougal of Stanaford, WV, stepson, David Welch of Bluefield, WV.; and her companion and lifelong friend, Kelly Eugene Gwinn Sr. Along with many wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great, great-grandchildren, and a special granddaughter in Heaven, Corie Leigh Winebrimmer;
Service will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Sunday, July 4, 2021, at 2:00 pm. Friends may gather with the family from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of sympathy be sent to the Bowers Hospice House – Beckley, WV.
