Harold Randall "Randy" Whitaker, age 64, of Hampton, passed away June 30, 2021, at his home. He was born in Atlanta, son of the late Gene S. Whitaker and Bobbie Thrasher Whitaker. Randy worked in research and development at Asten Johnson in Jonesboro for 20 years before retiring. He was a member of GraceWay Church in Hampton. Randy liked to fish, work on old cars, especially his 68' Camaro, and go to car shows. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Eubanks, brother-in-law, Mark Peterson and sister-in-law, Arleen Whitaker.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Deloris Dowdy Whitaker; children: Lori Whitaker Judy (C. J.) of Griffin and Jeffrey Whitaker (AnnaRuth) of TN; grandchildren: Harmony Huggins, Colton Judy, Shiann Judy, and Grayson Whitaker; brothers: Steve Whitaker of Tyrone, and Zibe Dowdy (Karen) of TN; sisters: Veronica "Roni" Eubanks (Chester) of Molena and Alice Peterson of Griffin; many nieces and nephews; best friend: Bill Bentley of Covington.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Berea Cemetery in Hampton.
