Thomas R. Smith, 78, of Rushville, passed away June 29, 2021 in Columbus. He was born January 24, 1943 in Franklin County to John & Lloyd (Strohmeier) Smith. Tom was a 1961 graduate of New Salem High School and attended the University of Cincinnati. He was in the US Army Reserves. Tom married Linda Warfield on May 14, 1966.
He worked many years as a salesman in the heating, cooling and electric industry retiring in 2005. He loved to work in his garden.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Rushville; a son, Duane (Shannon) Smith of St. Paul; a daughter, Lori (Chad) Newcomer of Osceola, IN; a sister, Janice Hunt of Cumberland; and his grandchildren - Shelby (Bryan) Cascio, Rachel and Riley Newcomer.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Pitts.
Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, July 3, 2021 in the Big Cedar Cemetery in Franklin County. Pastor Chip West will preside.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart or Diabetes Association.
