Phillip Luther Murphy, age 67, of Rome passed away Tuesday June 29, 2021 at his residence.
Phillip was born on September 25, 1953 in Floyd County, to the late Luther Murphy and Eva Tyree Murphy. Mr. Murphy graduated from University of West Georgia, as well from Berry College in 1979. Phillip was a school teacher with Floyd County Schools, Polk County Schools, Georgia School for the Deaf, and Floyd College for 22 years.
Survivors include his children: Alli (Matt) Surrett, Abby Murphy, and Ky Murphy; grandchildren: Clarakate Surrett; nieces and nephews: Chad Murphy, Ginger Johnson, Amber Thacker and numerous other nieces and nephews; sister: Angela Addington.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday July 3, 2021 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Cundiff officiating. Interment will follow in Bush Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service hour on Saturday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome GA. 30165.
