John (aka "Jake,") son of Dillard and Eliza, was born January 29, 1941 in Winslow, Arkansas . . . His family later moved to Oklahoma where he graduated from Sapulpa High School and later received a diploma from Tulsa Vo-Tech to become a machinist .
He also served in the U.S. Army including a tour in Vietnam.
In 1967, Dad met and married Glenda Eldredge . They lived in the Tulsa-Sapulpa area before moving to the small township of Winchester in Okmulgee County . . John finished a two-year apprenticeship at Burtek, Inc. and worked at several major companies, Byron Jackson, TK International, Cooper Manufacturing, Patty Precision and others . . His first love was the challenge of job shop machining continuing to do that until he took a position at American Airlines retiring from AA in 2008 after 17 years of perfect attendance . . . During those years John and Glenda welcomed a son, John, Jr. and four years later, a daughter, Kimberly JoAnna . . After moving his family to Okmulgee County, John started building a full-size gambrel-roofed barn for a woodworking shop . . . . . Soon after he began building a home digging the footing by hand . . . In the meantime, he built a wooden racetrack for the Boy Scout soap box derbies and began driving the FBC Van on Sundays .
Left behind to carry on this legacy is a family that loved him deeply and will miss him beyond words . His wife of 52 years, Glenda, a devoted son, John, of Moore, OK, and an adoring daughter and son-in-law, Jurkiw and Robert Jurkiw along with one granddaughter, Autumn .. . John was predeceased by his parents and his childhood companions, his sisters, Della Deaton & Carolyn Charboneau and his nephew Kimmy. . . He is survived by his brother Jim Robertson and wife Marsha and beloved nieces Dawna, Lisa, Tammy, Sherry, and Jenna and nephew Ryan . . . We grieve at the loss of our funny, loving, devoted father, but we celebrate his being truly Home and reunited with his mother and father and nephew . . . "The Lord is my light and salvation . . Whom shall I fear. . . The Lord is the strength of my life . . Of whom shall I be afraid ?" Psalms 27:1-2
John will be interred in the Mounds Cemetery in the spring of 2022 when his beloved Irises will be in bloom .
