Businessman. He was one of the most prominent businessmen in St. Louis, Missouri. He obtained his law degree from the St. Louis Law School in 1880 and was admitted to the bar later the same year. After practicing law for a while, he turned his attention to real estate. He became the president of the Real Estate Exchange of St. Louis in 1897. He was president of the M.A. Wolff Real Estate Company, one of the most widely known institutions of its kind in the West, and also president of the Padfield Wood & Iron Nut Lock Company.
