Gladys was the daughter of Will Brown and Marguerite Brown. She was educated in the Sumter County School System and later attended the Gillespie-Selden Institute in Cordele, Georgia. She was a stay at home mother during her younger years. She later in life was employed with the Crisp County Board of Education at the J. S. Pate Elementary School Cafeteria for 30 years. She joined the Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia. After her marriage, she united with her husband and joined the Beulahland Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia where she served on the Missionary Board, Mother's Board, as Church Announcer and member of the Senior Choir.

She was married to Deacon Herbert Williams Jr, whom she met in 1953 and married on February 6, 1954. They were together for 51 years until his death. She was preceded in death by 1 brother, Willie James Brown, 1 son-in-law, Arthur Wright, 1 grandson, Arrion Wright, 2 great grandchildren, Tyler Adams and Timber Adams and 1 sister-in-law, Tommie Lee Brown.

Survivors:
5 Daughters: Gail Jackson, Joyce Crawford(Robert), Linda Wright, Cheryl Nixon(Freddie) and Teresa Jackson(VasCorey).
1 Son: Scottie Williams(Jehan).
2 Sisters: Dorothy Brown Hubbard(Robert) and Ann Marie Brown Washington.
2 Brothers: Alex Brown and Earnest Brown(Vita).
2 Devoted Caretakers: Janet Dawson and Claudia Waters.
11 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren.

Services were held Monday, July 5, 2021 at 12PM on the J. W. Williams Funeral Home Porte Cochere in Cordele, Georgia with Rev Chester L. Adkins officiating.
