Edmund Highway Motor Vehicle Fatality
Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died as a result of a multiple vehicle accident that occurred in the 4700 block of Edmund Highway, South Congaree, at approximately 8:40 PM on June 29, 2021.
According to Coroner Fisher, Mr. Andrew William Day, 20, of Gaston was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. Mr. Day was travelling east on Edmund Highway when another vehicle travelling west crossed the center median striking Mr. Day's vehicle head on. The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger in Mr. Day's vehicle were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The incident is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT Team.

Obituary of Andrew William Day
Andrew William Day, 20, of Gaston, died June 29, 2021 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident involving a drunk driver. He was born April 24, 2001 in Newberry, the son of Jack Day(Kimberly) and Aleatha Sheppard Moore(Fred). Andrew attended virtual school and graduated from Cyber Academy of South Carolina in 2020. He was currently employed by M & W towing.

Andrew aspired to become a member to the C3 car club. He was a passionate Clemson fan and avid animal lover. He enjoyed fishing, riding 4-wheelers and hanging out with his family and friends. Andrew was also a weather enthusiast who loved watching weather reports and often talked of becoming a storm chaser one day. He especially loved his dog Zeus.

Andrew is survived by his parents Aleatha Sheppard Moore(Fred) of Gaston and Jack Day(Kimberly) of Pelion; his sister Alexys Day(Brett Reeder) of Lexington; his brothers Austan Day(Leah) of Fort Campbell,KY, Colby Cannon, Christian Cannon, and Brayden Day all of Pelion. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, William Sheppard of Newberry, Gwen and Rick Traylor, Sr. of Silverstreet; paternal grandparents Mike and Kay Seegers of Pelion and Louise Keisler of Lexington; maternal great-grandmother Sarah Lollis. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Dover and Shelba Day; maternal great grandparents, Bill and Margaret Sheppard. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Shelby Duncan of West Columbia and his close friend Bryer Smith of Gaston. Andrew leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a precious nephew Weston Jack Hallman.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Woodridge Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Lexington. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Woodridge Funeral Home. The funeral service will held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the The Lakeside Gazebo in Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington. Burial will follow the service in Woodridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making donations to M.A.D.D (Mother's Against Drunk Driving) program located at 421 Mission Court, Irmo, SC 29063.
