No evidence of a technical malfunction was found. Cockpit voice and flight data recorders revealed the presence of the relief pilot's 12-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son on the flight deck. While seated at the controls, the pilot's son had unknowingly disengaged the A310's autopilot control of the aircraft's ailerons. The autopilot then disengaged completely, causing the aircraft to roll into a steep bank and a near-vertical dive. Despite managing to level the aircraft, the first officer over-corrected when pulling up, causing the plane to stall and enter into a spin; the pilots managed to level the aircraft off once more, however the plane had descended beyond a safe altitude to initiate a recovery and subsequently crashed into the mountain range. All 75 occupants died on impact."
Yaroslav, an experienced pilot with nearly 9,000 flying hours, brought his children into the cockpit for a memorable experience, the first time they ever flew with him. He allowed the children to sit in the pilot's seat, and "take control" of the plane while autopilot was on --- giving them the illusion of flying the plane. Yaroslav's 15 year old son, Eldar, turned the handle too far, however, disabling the autopilot; suddenly, he was actually flying the plane. The plane flipped over, and everyone on board was killed, including Kudrinsky and his children.
