Obituary Gonzales Inquirer Nov. 26, 1987


Joe Boutwell, long time resident of Gonzales, died in Memorial Hospital at 8:15 a.m. November 21, and services were scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Seydler-Hill Funeral Chapel.

The Rev. Gerald Evans of Memorial Baptist Church, and the Rev. Glenn Howard of Eastside Baptist church, conducted the rites with burial in Gonzales Memorial Park cemetery.

Mr. Boutwell was born in Faliah, La., on June 5, 1904, the son of Theodore T. and Mary Cutrer Boutwell, natives of Louisiana. He was married to Ida Caroline Karm on September 22, 1925, and lived at 2204 St. Andrew Street. His wife preceded him in death on August 26, 1982.

He was a charter member of the Eastside Baptist Church and had served as a Decon. He had also worked with the senior citizens until health forced his retirement, and had been employed with the City of Gonzales as foreman of the Street Department.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
