Thelma Jean Long was born June 24, 1938, in Imperial, Nebraska, to Arthur Avery and Lois Iola (Clements) Siefken. Thelma grew up in Imperial and graduated from Chase County High School in 1956.
On March 12, 1955, Thelma married Irvin Dale Long in Benkelman, Nebraska. The couple first settled in Wauneta, NE, and then relocated to Lincoln, NE, where Irvin was employed in construction and Thelma worked in several factories including Russell Stover Candies and Lester's Electrical Company.
Thelma enjoyed cross stitching, camping, fishing, bowling and collecting cookie jars. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Thelma passed away early Sunday morning, June 27, 2021, at her home surrounded by family, near McCook, NE. She was 83 years of age.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband Irvin in 2020; daughter Penny Ritchie; in-laws Hazel and Hack Long; and grandson Shawn Ritchie.
