King Ganaway was the son of Daniel Ganaway & Roanna (Rouena/Rowena?) Avent, both born in TN. He was the father of King Daniel Ganaway, who moved to Chicago, ca. 1903, and was initially a butler, but soon became a famous, self-taught, professional photographer of the early 20th Century in Chicago.

Almost a decade after his wife, Hattie, died, he married L.C. McGee in Chattanooga, TN, according to a marriage license notice in the Chattanooga Daily Times, August 19, 1914.

His parents, Daniel & Roanna Ganaway, are buried in Clark Family Cemetery, Murfreesboro, which now, sadly, has a house built over their graves!
