Committal services will be Monday September 24, 2007 at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with Chaplain Moe Greiner officiating and military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.
Jack was born March 6, 1934, at Portland, OR, to Albert and Edith (Soderquist) Quay. He grew up in Oregon and graduated from Gresham High School.
He enlisted in the US Air Force during the Korean War and became a gunner on a B-36. He was transferred to the B-52's and served as a gunner in VietNam, flying over 100 missions and received the Distinguished Flying
Cross.
Jack attended college in Merced, CA and was transferred to Ellsworth Air Force Base where he was the squadron gunner and attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant.
In 1973 Jack was involved in a motor vehicle accident and was medically retired from the Air Force. He moved to Elk City, ID and returned to South Dakota in 2005 where he made Ft. Meade his home.
Survivors include his son,one daughter and her husband, one brother and his wife,one sister and her husband,two grandchildren and five great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
